What you will do:
You will perform duties in support of the agency operations accounting and reporting functions.
Primary job duties include:
- Processing accounts payable transactions in the South Carolina Enterprise Information System (SCEIS) to include direct payments, purchase order payments, and interdepartmental transfers.
- Serving as back-up for processing travel reimbursements.
- Auditing invoices for accuracy, ensuring appropriate supporting documentation and approvals are received.
- Coordinating with SCDOR procurement staff, other staff, and external vendors to request additional information, research, and resolve discrepancies.
- Utilizing SCEIS Business Warehouse and Business Objects reporting tools to review, monitor, and report on accounts payable transactions.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Either:
- A high school diploma and professional experience in a related area such as accounting, auditing, finance, or banking OR
- A bachelor’s degree with multiple accounting courses (Transcripts required. Attach to application or email to employment@dor.sc.gov.)
Academic degrees must be from an accredited institution of higher learning.
Preferred Qualifications
These qualifications are not required but are considered when setting a starting salary.
- Associate’s degree or higher and two years of experience in a related area such as accounting, auditing, finance, or banking
- Eighteen semester hours in accounting, auditing, or tax
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures, state government fiscal and accounting processes, and SCEIS
- Maintaining budget projects spreadsheets and assisting with other budget documents and reporting.
- Reconciling other funds programs posted to SCEIS and DORWAY (SCDOR's online tax portal).
- Coordinating and preparing Accounting Operations Performance Measures and statistical analysis.
- Analyzing agency purchases and determining appropriate cost center, general ledger, and fund assignment.
- Ensuring that all invoices and supporting documentation are in compliance with SC audit requirements and SC disbursement regulations.
- Processing accounts receivables to other SC agencies ensuring that all appropriate documentation is included.
- Processing direct bills from State Fleet Management for leased vehicles.
- Cross-training with other accounting staff to keep abreast of changes in law, policy procedures, and best practices.
