We are looking for teammates who are:

What you will do:
As a Professional Auditor you will conduct complex audits of tax returns to ensure compliance with South Carolina and federal tax laws under general supervision.
Primary job duties include:
- Researching and reviewing the filing and payment history of taxpayer's income, sales, withholding, corporate, and other miscellaneous tax accounts
- Verifying the registration of corporate tax accounts
- Making decisions concerning the appropriate action for outstanding tax discrepancies or issues
- Collaborating when needed with the Secretary of State and department tax sections to resolve complex tax issues
- Providing customer service to taxpayers and their representatives through telephone, written, and in-office communication
- Recommending and monitoring system enhancements based on law and forms changes for efficiency and accuracy purposes
- Assisting in the training of new employees on the SCDOR DORWAY system specific to general and lottery compliance
- Preparing a monthly statistical report that reflects the Certificate of Tax Compliance activities
- Maintaining the SCDOR Taxpayer Dashboard
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Either:
- A bachelor's degree with multiple accounting courses (Transcript Required) OR
- A bachelor's degree and one year of experience in accounting, auditing, finance, insurance, or tax preparation and/or analysis OR
- An associate's degree with three years of experience in accounting, auditing, finance, insurance, or tax preparation and/or analysis OR
- Relevant experience or education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis with an approved equivalence by the Division of State Human Resources (DSHR)
Academic degrees must be from an accredited institution of higher learning.

- Hours: Work hours are 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday (37.5 hours per week).
- Telework schedule: This position may be eligible to work remotely up to two days per week.
