What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chief Inspector position at SC Engineers PC?
The Chief Inspector will be extremely observant and attentive to detail and must have past experience on MTA NYCT and TBTA projects. The responsibilities of a Chief Inspector include ensuring compliance with all contract documents, enforcing regulations that pertain to the construction, observing work in progress to assure conformance with requirements, and acceptable workmanship.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Ensures contractors compliance with Contract Documents.
- Provides leadership to junior inspectors and oversight to all construction efforts
- Analyzes contractors site safety, operational performance, and minimizes risk.
- Reviews construction, safety, quality plans and submittals associated with the Projects
- Manages and oversees a team of 5 field inspection staff.
- Develops daily, weekly, monthly reports
- Attends progress meetings and reports on project status.
- Works with Project Manager to review requests for change from the field and, if appropriate, prepares a potential change notice with appropriate justification for submission to PM.
- Reviews Safety Site Specific Work Plan (SSSWP)
- Communicates and implements safety rules, policies, and procedures in support of the project safety vision
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 5-10 years relevant work experience required.
- Demonstrated experience as a senior inspector on past transit or bridge construction projects
- Must have the ability to coordinate efforts with other technical disciplines and have knowledge of reading contract plans and review construction schedules.
- Possess strategic and tactical skills required for planning and executing complex project work.
- Strong leadership required, encompassing effective communication, motivation, and team building/team performance skills.
- Demonstrated experience in using PC-based word processing and spreadsheet (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) sufficient to prepare daily reports.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- BS degree in engineering, construction management or related field
- 10 years relevant work experience preferred
- MTA NYCT Track Safety Training
- MTA ADA Elevator and Escalator project experience
- Demonstrated construction experience on bridges, highways, and/or railroad environments.
Salary Range:
- $160,000 to $190,000
