This role will be known as Innovation Director among colleagues and within the business. Within the broader SCJ organization, the job is graded as an Innovation Manager.

THE ROLE

Based in San Francisco and reporting to VP of Global Innovation, the Innovation Director, Method plays a pivotal part on our team. You will craft the innovation strategy and vision for Method and set the near and long-term product roadmap for the brand. This is a hands-on role where your curiosity, initiative and energy level will have a direct impact on the business and the broader Lifestyles Brand organization. The role has day-to-day exposure to both functional and company leadership teams.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

The Innovation Director will:

  • Own the global long-term innovation strategy for Method: Work with the VP of Global Innovation to chart out the future vision and roadmap for our innovation pipeline. Provide thought leadership and oversee all innovation activities for the brand. Enroll key functional teams in the innovation strategy and partner with them to bring that vision to life. Establish and champion an innovation-led culture within the broader organization
  • Identify new product opportunities: Identify and size new whitespace opportunities in terms of product positioning, offering and adjacency categories that complement the existing portfolio and maximize incrementality. Conduct analyses to create the business case for new product opportunities
  • Execute successful product launches from idea to shelf: Collaborate with a dynamic cross-function team across creative, design, consumer insights and R&D to develop amazing products and ideas. Develop the concept, positioning, portfolio differentiation, claims direction, name and pricing of new products. Conduct market research as needed and data analysis to identify insights, needs and opportunities. Partner with the Commercial Brand Development team to bring these launches to life in North America
  • Manage and grow the Method Innovation Team: Develop and coach an Innovation Manager, setting them up for success and future growth. Foster a positive and engaging environment while coaching and building capabilities within the innovation team.
  • Be on the leading edge of industry and consumer trends: Bring an external perspective to the innovation team and translate consumer behavior into exciting new opportunities for the brand.
  • Design for an omnichannel world: Drive innovation roadmaps that succeed across both traditional and emerging retail landscapes\

QUALIFICATIONS:

Requirements:

  • 8 years of experience in marketing/brand management with direct leadership over innovation development and management
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Authorized to work in the United States now and in the future without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA
  • Strong initiative and demonstrated leadership across functions and levels
  • Experience leading and coaching a team of direct reports
  • Demonstrated ability in leading and influencing change across an organization
  • Experience in shaping and influencing the strategic agenda and priorities of a business
  • Ability to keep track and evaluate trends, and translate into actionable recommendations
  • Have an entrepreneurial mindset and are passionate about making an impact
  • Track record as an outstanding problem-solver and strategic thinker
  • A team player, comfortable with ambiguity and managing multiple projects/deadlines
  • Outstanding communication skills - oral and written
