Reporting to the Manager, R&D, you will be responsible for helping maintain laboratory hygiene, safety and inventory as well as supporting other formulators with projects across Personal Care categories. This position is based at our headquarters in San Francisco. It is important that you have a background in Chemistry or other Life Sciences, hands-on formulation experience and demonstrated proficiency in a lab setting. Just as importantly, you should have superior communication and teamwork skills, ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment and exhibit a passion for environmentally-sustainable products and creative problem solving.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Work independently in the lab and help maintain lab hygiene, lab safety, and lab instruments maintenance and calibration
Establish best practices for inventory management, lab processes and documentation
Track and maintain lab inventory and order raw materials and supplies
Work with outside vendors to manage chemical waste disposal
Support other formulators in developing new formulations and line extensions using green chemistry tools that meet our consumer and technical objectives
Conduct related performance and stability studies to ensure products deliver on quality, and target product experience
Support product development and quality assurance / control activities, assist QA team with physical standard production and maintenance
Support other Formulators in Product Life Cycle (PLM) data entry and data management
Continually assess and upgrade formulation capabilities, including technical knowledge base, test methods and formulation skills.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING
Bachelors Degree (Chemistry or other Life Sciences) and 2 years of hands-on experience in a lab setting or advanced degree and 1 year of relevant experience
Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS
R&D experience in the Personal Care Industry
Understanding of SAP and PLM data managements systems
Intermediate to advance experience with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Hands on experience evaluating consumer product performance
Ability to drive results (independently and as part of a team), make recommendations and craft smart plans and deliver against them
Energy and Passion with a high capacity for work with demonstrated ability to prioritize effectively and propagate excitement; Good attitude and positive outlook

Position is Full-Time, r egular business hours, Monday-Friday
Office work environment : San Francisco, CA office, remote work available once a week
Ability to lift 10 - 40 pounds
Travel up to 10%
