What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant position at SC Thrive?

The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial procedures and confirming financial compliance through the preparation of a company's reports and statements.  They will support the Accounting and finance team in financial transactions, including general ledger and journal entries, preparing financial reports, performing account analysis and reconciliation, booking of expenses and revenues, maintaining fixed assets and posting accruals along with other financial-related items.

Job-Specific Functions

Perform comprehensive accounting activities to maintain complete, accurate , and timely financial statements and reports.
Record and maintain accurate transactional entries and reconciliations monthly.
Monitor and ensure the integrity of banking and cash management activities.
Assist with various administrative reports and duties within the department.
Maintains records and agreements with vendors and partners.
Manages accounts receivable processes and systems.
Assists with internal and external audits.
Contributes to overall business operation.
Prepare financial statements with accuracy and legal compliance.
Data entering.
Organize and update financial records.
Recommend ways to reduce costs and enhance revenue.
Perform monthly ban k reconciliations.
Oversees credit card transactions, coding, and entering them into the bill system.
Provides support for various reporting needs.
Performs work-related errands as needed.
Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required

Minimum of 3 years o f accounting experience

Proficient in all Microsoft Products, especially Excel

Knowledge of monthly accounting cycle and accounting procedures including invoicing, receivables, revenues, payroll accounting, cash procedures , and controls

Demonstrates excellent attention to detail, as well as strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational abilities

Displays ability to work cooperatively in a team environment and be a self-starter

Solid technological skills, including Microsoft Office, especially Excel

Accounting Software skills, QuickBooks a plus

Solid communication skills, written and oral

High level of accuracy and attention to detail

Solid organizational and analytical skills

Preferred Experience

Experience in a nonprofit business

Experience in or displays comprehension of federal and state programs and benefits

Demonstrates desire and ability to work with people from various socioeconomic backgrounds and thrive in diverse environments

Additional Requirements

A bility and willingness to work flexible hours, including some nights and weekends, as needed.

Must have reliable transportation or be able to secure transportation for travel as needed.

Must have a valid SC driver's license, minimum state auto insurance , and the ability to travel to multiple worksites in SC.

Must maintain an acceptable driving record in accordance with SCT policy.

Must have consistent, secure, high-speed internet access that is at least 25 Mbps download and 4 Mbps upload and meets SC Thrive's standards .
