Job Title: Warehouse Picker/Packer
Contract Duration: 12 Months (with potential for permanent conversion)
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Location: Hazelwood, MO 63042
Pay Rate: $17 per hour (W2)
Physical Requirements: Manual labor involving lifting up to 50 lbs per box and moving approximately 300 boxes daily.
Job Summary & Work Schedule:
- Standard Work Hours: 9-hour shifts, 5 days a week, including a 30-minute lunch break and two 15-minute breaks.
Job Responsibilities: Primary Duties (95% of Time):
- Secure Shredding Operations:
- Empty collected materials from containers (e.g., cutting bags, dumping gaylords).
- Manually unload boxes from pallets and sort materials by grade.
- Remove contaminants from materials as required.
- Perform equipment repairs when authorized to ensure safety and operational efficiency.
- Conduct routine equipment maintenance as directed by the Plant Manager or Supervisor.
- Load and unload vehicles and verify the accuracy of deliveries and pickups.
- Maintain chain of custody and strict control over customer materials.
- Communicate workplace obstacles to the Plant Manager or Supervisor as part of the 5S Workplace Program.
- Assist in training new staff when necessary.
- Adhere to OSHA requirements, safety protocols, and security procedures, including wearing uniforms and required PPE.
Safety and Equipment:
- Promptly report non-operational equipment or safety concerns to the Plant Manager or Supervisor.
- Handle and sort materials using gloves, safety glasses, and other required PPE.
- Wear protective footwear meeting ASTM F2413-11 standards with a slip-resistant rating of “Better or Best.”
Administrative and Other Duties (5% of Time):
- Perform tasks as assigned by the Destruction Supervisor or Plant Manager.
Essential Functions:
- Physical Requirements:
- Work in a manufacturing environment, occasionally requiring dust masks and earplugs.
- Lift heavy materials (70-100 lbs) and push wheeled containers weighing up to 300 lbs.
- Operate powered industrial trucks (PIT) and other equipment as licensed.
- Work in temperatures that may match external conditions.
- Travel Requirements:
- Less than 10% within the district as needed.
- Equipment Utilization:
- 95% of Time: Lifting, moving, pushing, and pulling materials.
- 5% of Time: Using a laptop/desktop computer or telephone.
