Job Title: Laboratory Technician (Sanger Sequencing)
Location: Chicago, IL 60637
Employment Type: Full-time/Contract

Qualifications Education:

• Required: College or university degree in a related field.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Genetics, or a related field.

Work Experience:

• Required: Knowledge and skills developed through less than 2 years of work experience in a related discipline.
• Preferred: At least 1 year of prior experience in a core or research lab setting.

Certifications:

• None specified.

ResponsibilitiesPrimary Responsibilities (80%)

• Process client-supplied samples through the Sanger sequencing workflow, including:
• Processing sample intake documents.
• Setting up Sanger sequencing reactions and performing reaction cleanups.
• Operating ABl3730xl and related equipment.
• Perform laboratory tasks such as colony picking, bacterial culture, and plasmid preparation.
• Collaborate with facility staff to ensure timely delivery of samples to Principal Investigators (PIs).

Additional Responsibilities (20%)

• Conduct lab-related tasks using subject matter expertise and best practices.
• Maintain rigorous record-keeping for bench work and the status of client orders.
• Provide progress updates to clients as necessary.
• Offer technical and administrative support for research projects.
• Install, set up, and execute experiments, interacting with students and lab staff under the direction of the Principal Investigator.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract, Temporary

Pay: $18.95 - $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
