About the Role:
Scalar Consulting Group is currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior-Level Environmental Scientist to join our South Florida office. This is a full-time opportunity to support a wide range of environmental and natural resource projects throughout the region.
In this role, you’ll be conducting fieldwork, collecting and analyzing environmental data, assisting with regulatory permitting, and supporting multi-disciplinary teams. Key Responsibilities:
- Collect, analyze, and report data on habitats, wildlife, water quality, soils, and other natural resources
- Conduct habitat mapping and characterization
- Perform wetland delineations in accordance with federal and state criteria
- Conduct surveys for protected plant and animal species
- Support data collection and reporting for contamination and hazardous materials assessments
- Assist in preparing natural resource permit applications and supporting documentation
- Utilize ArcMap GIS for data analysis and creating maps/exhibits for reports
- Contribute to public involvement activities, research tasks, and general team support as needed
Qualifications:
- Minimum 4-year college level degree in biology, environmental science, or equivalent science-based degree.
- 4-10 years of experience
- Ability to travel to regional work locations and field assignments.
- Proficiency in the skills and responsibilities below:
-Knowledge of Florida’s ecological communities, floral and faunal species
-Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ArcMap GIS experience preferred
-Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
-Strong work ethic with a desire to learn and contribute
-Willingness to work outdoors in challenging Florida field conditions
