What are the responsibilities and job description for the Press Operator- 3rd Shift position at Scan-Pac Manufacturing?
What You'll Do
As a Press Operator, you'll be part of our Scan Pac Manufacturing team located in Menomonee Falls, WI. You'll get to:
- Operates molding presses, various machining equipment, and multiple measuring devices to produce completed friction parts
- Inserts steel molds into presses by hand and using lifting devices as needed.
- Weigh powdered raw material according to work order for each piece made.
- Apply mold release, fill mold cavities with mix material, starts press(s) for performance cycle, and unload molded parts from press by hand or use mechanical assistance if necessary.
- Carefully inspects all pieces for defects and removes excess material from parts.
- Keep correct counts and completes necessary paperwork in a legible and organized manner. (Engineering report—charts-quality sheets-etc.)
- Follows all safety guidelines and notifies supervisor/cell leader of all accidents or safety related concerns.
- Practices good housekeeping by maintaining the work area in clean and organized fashion.
- Participates in scrap review and corrective-preventive action meetings.
- Complete all necessary quality signoffs, first piece checks, and perform quality signoffs for other press operators.
- Log onto work order set-up when setting job up and log onto work operation when making parts using Visual Work Order system.
- Participate in scrap reviews, identify corrective actions, and communicate any scrap reduction or quality improvements to employees on other shifts.
- Perform sound testing on all parts pressed.
- Assist in training new operators as needed.
- Other duties may be assigned as and when requested.
Pay: $16.00 per hour, opportunity for an increase after 90 days of hire (based on performance)
Qualifications and Requirements:
- No prior experience or training
- Able to read and communicate in English
- Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and recognize similarities/differences between words and a series of numbers in a legible fashion.
- Able to print/write in legible manner to complete reports or present information/concerns to others.
- Able to measure temperature and pressure readings on a press.
- Must be able to properly use and record data from calipers and micrometers.
- Must be able to properly use scales to measure out weight of material per work order
