COMPUTER TECHNICIAN
(Full Time 40 HRS./ WEEK)
To install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair computers and peripheral equipment. To fix computer problems caused by mechanical and electronic malfunctions. To install any type of cabling and wiring under any environment and office conditions.

Education and Experience:
Associate in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field. Two years of general computer installation, maintenance and repair experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment. Stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry objects weighing up to 60 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. Must be able and willing to travel. Travel will be required from time to time at different job sites and staying overnight. Must have a clear driving record and be willing to drive our agency vehicles/vans or rental.
Knowledge of: (at entry)
Computer hardware, software and peripherals such as central processing units, servers, monitors, cables, network systems, printers and modems.
Procedures for installing, configuring, upgrading, troubleshooting and repairing applicable software, hardware and peripherals.
Principles, practices, hardware and software related to the establishment and maintenance of LAN’s and WAN’s and techniques for explaining technical concepts and procedures to non-technical users.
Skill in: (at entry)
Installing, configuring and upgrading operating systems and software. Installing, configuring, assembling and repairing computers, monitors, network infrastructure and peripherals such as printers and related hardware.
Using initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines and procedures.
Organizing own work, setting priorities and meeting critical time deadlines and communicating effectively with co-workers, subordinates and superiors
Salary: HS Diploma/GED, Associate - $17.06 to $21.63 per hour plus fringe benefits depending on experience and qualifications.

Key Duties
- Installing and repairing computers, peripherals, and other data processing equipment
- Wiring and connecting components, testing the equipment, and loading operating systems and applications
- Using software, technical guides, diagrams, and a variety of instruments to diagnose problems, including troubleshooting hardware and software, e-mail, network and peripheral equipment problems.
- Cleaning and lubricating parts and making adjustments
- Upgrading computers by adding new boards, replacing hard drives, adding memory chips, and making other alterations to the hardware
- Completing service and installation reports
- Answering customers’ questions
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
