Overview
Scarborough NeuroDevelopment Center is a small, outpatient Speech Language Pathology clinic in South Portalnd, Maine. We are currently expanding, and are seeking a medical Administrative Assistant to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing administrative support, including but not limited to the following: ensuring the smooth operation of our office, enhancing patient care, and maintaining accurate medical records. The ideal candidate will have experience with medical terminology, billing processes, and insurance verification.
Responsibilities
- Manage patient scheduling and appointment confirmations to optimize clinic workflow.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including care plans and medical histories.
- Process medical billing and coding using ICD-10 standards to ensure proper reimbursement.
- Verify insurance information and assist patients with understanding their coverage options.
- Utilize electronic health record system (Athena Health) to document patient interactions and updates.
- Perform 10 key typing for data entry tasks related to patient information and billing.
- Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to resolve any issues or inquiries.
Experience
- Previous experience in a medical office or clinic environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with ICD-10 coding and medical billing practices is essential.
- Knowledge of care plans and patient management systems is a plus.
- Proficiency in 10 key typing for efficient data entry tasks.
- Experience with insurance verification processes is highly desirable.
- Previous work in a medical office setting is advantageous but not required.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask are crucial for success in this role.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
