Roles and Responsibilities
- Find new experiences to share with children.
- Must be able to comprehend and follow selected curriculum
- Introduce three to six-year-old children to the world of school
- Support learning by providing activities and materials that children find engaging.
- Must keep classroom clean, safe, and free of materials that could be hazardous to children
- Must manage a classroom; requires organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment
- Become a partner in learning and encouraging children to find their own answers instead of providing the answers for them.
- Facilitate learning, supply a developmentally appropriate environment with interesting materials, and adequate time to explore, play, and interact.
- Complete required paperwork, lesson planning, prepare materials and the environment, and negotiating requires teachers to have strong management skills
- Nurture children in all aspects of development: social, emotional, cognitive, and physical. In every interaction, a teacher should nurture appropriate growth and development.
- Must be able to communicate with many people throughout the day; parents, children, support staff, the general public, and administrators. Early childhood teachers must be prepared to communicate with all these people.
