Overview
The Sales Consultant role reports to the Director of Local Sales. The Sales Consultant will be responsible for promoting and selling food products and services to various clients, such as restaurants, on behalf of Scavuzzo’s Foodservice. Their primary role is to generate sales, build relationships with customers, and ensure customer satisfaction.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Sales and business development: Sales Consultants are responsible for identifying potential customers and actively seeking new business opportunities. Promoting and selling products and/or related services through suggestive sales techniques to meet and surpass profitability goals.
- Product Promotion: Responsible for promoting food products and services to potential customers. This involves conducting product demonstrations, providing samples, explaining features and benefits, and highlighting competitive advantages.
- Customer Relationship Management: Sales Consultants build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers. They provide personalized customer service, address customer inquiries and concerns, and act as a liaison between the customer and the company. They strive to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.
- Market Analysis and Research: Sales Consultants stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities. They gather market intelligence, conduct research on customer preferences, and analyze data to identify opportunities for product improvement or development. They also provide feedback to the company & management regarding customer needs and market demands.
- Order Processing and Logistics: Food Service Consultants handle the ordering process, including receiving and processing orders, coordinating with the internal teams to fulfill customer requirements, and ensuring timely delivery of products. They may also assist with inventory management and forecasting to optimize supply and demand. Responsible for relaying appropriate information to customers to enhance the company's image.
- Training and Education: Some Food Service Representatives provide training and educational sessions to customers on product usage, food preparation techniques, and menu development. They may conduct workshops or demonstrations to educate customers on the features and benefits of specific food products.
- Receives and resolves customer complaints and problems within a timely manner.
- Responsible for providing basic delivery assistance to customers as needed via call order process.
- Acts in a stewardship capacity for the Company, works as a functional member of the team, has ability to self-direct and self-regulate workday.

Requirements
Placement Criteria
- 1 year of sales experience preferred.
- Foodservice industry/culinary/restaurant management/hospitality experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree not required, but preferred.
- Analytical with strong attention to detail.
- Problem solver with the ability to implement process improvement.
- Strong critical thinking skills.
- Knowledge of sales within the foodservice distribution industry.
- Ability to effectively manage negotiations and customer relations.
- Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
