Job Summary:?The Retail Associate is responsible for delivering a highly satisfied guest experience by engaging and interacting with all guests and maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming store environment. The Retail Associate follows all established (and new) company standards regarding merchandising, safety, displaying, and loss prevention. The Retail Associate must always remain flexible with work hours, changes to operations, and always work with peers and leadership to achieve goals. The Retail Associate may be cross trained in multiple areas across the retail department and/or company based on operational needs.?? 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Role Model for established guest experience standards with all internal and external guests.? 
• Embraces a positive attitude at all times, especially during high business volumes or stressful situations and displays honesty, integrity, and respect on a routine basis.?? 
• Takes initiative to complete assignments such as merchandise recovery, merchandise receiving/counting/pricing, stocking shelves, displaying merchandise as well as cleaning and organizing duties.? 
• Accurately rings guest purchases, returns, and provides accurate change to guests.? 
• Capability of balancing multiple tasks at one time and lifting heavy objects on a routine basis. 
• Promote the history and preservation of railroading to guests, highlighting how the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad supports the preservation of American rail heritage. 
• Stay informed about product features, benefits, promotions, and pricing to confidently answer questions and make recommendations that enhance the guest’s shopping experience. 
• Other duties assigned by Retail Leadership and GSMR Senior Management. 

Requirements

Education, Skill and Work Experience Requirements:

• Previous retail or guest service experience? 
• Cash handling experience preferred.? 
• Must be able to interact effectively with coworkers, vendors, and guests. 
• Able to work with many types of personalities and resolve conflicts. 
• Must have a passion and desire to provide strong customer service and guest satisfaction.? 
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule with night and weekend hours.? 
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.? 
• Must have the ability to be on your feet for the entirety of your shift. 
• Must be able to operate a cash register, POS system and square device.? 

Work Environment:

The Retail Associate will generally work inside the retail store. Depending on the time of year, business demands, or stock needs the associate may also work in the following areas: depot deck, warehouse, or onboard the train. The Retail Associate is subject to all weather and climate and should be prepared to work in all locations during daily operations.?? 

Salary : $15 - $17
