What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Supervisor position at SCH Services, LLC?
PURPOSE AND FUNCTION:
Supervise and train hourly employees, oversee daily activity, bulk cargo transfers between trains, trucks, river barges, and storage yards, in a safe and efficient manner. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Supervise personnel, visitors, contractors, and vendors on-site.
2. Ensure proper training, safety, and motivation of personnel.
3. Know and use established safety rules and regulations.
4. Supervise the safe use of equipment during the loading and unloading of bulk material between trains, trucks, river barges, and storage yards.
5. Direct workforce in accordance with prescribed management plans to ensure productivity levels are high and working practices are implemented safely.
6. Demonstrate and maintain behaviors that proactively support safe work practices while recognizing, communicating, and correcting conditions of potential risk.
7. Monitor actual and averaged tons per hour on each system as well as good pile management of customers’ products.
8. Monitor advance planning activities prior to the trains and barges coming into the terminal to ensure safe operations.
9. Follow, administer, and enforce company and management policies and procedures. 10. Oversee repairs, maintenance, and/or cleaning of company machinery and vehicles.
11. Prepare and complete daily timesheets, inspections, reports and forms related to production and safety, and provide to management for review and filing.
12. Keep management abreast of any operational issues that would impact safety, productivity, customer service, or Labor Relations.
13. Report and investigate all accidents, damage, and injuries.
14. Interface with the Maintenance Department to see that all repairs are completed in a safe, timely, and efficient manner.
15. Cover the opposite shift supervisor when needed
16. Attend all hands meetings from time to time.
17. Work a rotating day/night work shift.
18. Perform all other related duties as required by management.
