Product Development Engineer - Steering Systems

Your Key Responsibilities

• Develop the structure of the mechanical system (steer by wire) from architecture with risk measures in mind.
• Break down systems into subsystems and components, drafting detailed product specifications.
• Evaluate existing subsystems for reusability and develop optimal alternative structures.
• Perform necessary calculations and analyses to meet design requirements (FEA, manufacturability).
• Collaborate with designers to create and approve drawings per Schaeffler standards.
• Document and present design and analysis results, internally and externally.
• Support DFMEA creation and evaluate risk assessments for production deviations.
• Interact with customers and suppliers throughout product development process.
• Encourage innovations and conduct benchmark studies on competitors and customer specs.
• Assist processing plant requests, ensuring product quality and performance integrity.
• Define test procedures and arrange testing in collaboration with test labs.
  
  

Your Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
• 2 plus years experience
• Experience in developing steer-by-wire systems preferred.
• Proficient in CAD modeling software and interpreting FEA results.
• Understanding of GD&T, manufacturing processes, and mechatronic systems
• External applicants must be authorized to work in the US without employment VISA or other sponsorship
