About the Job
This position will be integral to the daily management of activities at MLC Trucking including dispatching of drivers, appointment scheduling and equipment selection to meet customer delivery requirements. This is a dynamic position that will require a high energy individual capable operating in a dynamic environment. This person will be responsible for performing data analysis and support of operational excellence activities within the trucking business.
- Manage equipment logistical operations and perform daily dispatching of trucks for Ste. Genevieve, MO and Weirton, WV terminals in a safe, efficient and customer focused manner.
- Develop knowledge of state and federal regulations relating to the trucking industry and DOT compliance. Develop knowledge and application of company safety rules with an emphasis on Department of Transportation (DOT) guidelines. Develop understanding of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, specifically the MOA regarding MLDS drivers, to ensure compliance with union dispatch and seniority rules.
- Support administrative activities for MLDS including managing key performance indicators, operations information, customer details and general reports. Provide support and assistance to terminal manager, support broader needs across the company’s logistical operations as needed.
- Coordinate shipments/deliveries with drivers based on seniority, customer demand, driver hours of service, and plant loadout availability. Coordinate equipment availability with MLDS shop mechanics.
- Generate paperwork for drivers on each load which confirms order #, product, appointment time for loading, and customer delivery window.
- Required to take calls after hours from drivers and scale house.
- Manage office inventory.
- Employees are expected to perform other responsibilities as needed.
- Education: Associate’s Degree in Logistics, Transportation, or a business-related field is required or equivalent work experience in the trucking industry.
- Experience: Previous experience in trucking and operations is required. Supervisory experience and experience operating in a union environment preferred but not require
- Knowledge: Current knowledge of DOT guidelines is preferr
- Skills: Time management, communication, and action oriented.
- Abilities: Ability to work independently and use sound judgement.
