Associate Attorney
Schaffer & Associates, a Johnson County, Kansas litigation firm in existence since 1999, specializes in delivering counsel to large and small insurers and their insureds. We are currently seeking an associate attorney with a strong desire to develop their career as a litigator defending clients in a variety of legal actions. Full benefits include employee health insurance with HSA, long-term disability, and 401K with profit-sharing.
Objectives of this role
- Become well versed in insurance and personal injury law in Kansas and Missouri
- Write succinct and persuasive motions and briefs in district and federal courts
- Maintain a regular schedule of hearings, court appearances, depositions and mediations
Responsibilities
- Draft and respond to motions and briefs
- Maintain consistent client contact concerning case development
- Perform legal research
- Conduct depositions of parties, witnesses and experts
- Attend court for hearings, pre-trial conferences and trial
Required skills and qualifications
- Licensure in Kansas or Missouri (preference for both states)
- Good writing skills
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Ability to work independently and efficiently to maintain a case load and meet deadlines
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
