Job Title: Guidance Counselor | 10-month
Reports To: Middle and High School Principals
Supervises: Middle and High School Students
About the Position:
- Schaumburg Christian School (SCS) seeks a dynamic and forward-thinking individual to help grow and maintain our middle and high school course selections to prepare our students for success in their career paths.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Develop a master schedule for the middle and high school year
- Collaborate with school administration to determine personnel needs according to current enrollment
- Assign faculty to teach classes based on need and professional qualifications
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and staff regarding student academic progress
- Facilitates meetings with students and parents to create student class schedules
- Keeps up-to-date on Illinois and AACS graduation requirements
- Collaborates with faculty to expand course offerings
- Works with building administrator to facilitate training for grade procedure
- Sends and receives transcripts on behalf of Schaumburg Christian School
- Ensures students stay on track to achieve educational goals
- Works closely with students to develop a plan for after high school
- Facilitates advanced-level course offerings and/or testing opportunities
- Facilitates College and Career Readiness program
- Facilitates school-wide IOWA testing
- Facilitates PSAT SAT testing dates
- Facilitate, maintain, and supervise dual-credit online courses
- Assist parents and students with all facets of the college application process (informational meetings, individual assistance, etc.)
- Facilitate and oversee campus visits with college representatives
- Assist families with finding and securing college scholarships
- Assist students with securing online credit recovery classes
- Provide or facilitate ACT/SAT preparation assistance for all students high school students.
- Facilitate and oversee all on-site Advanced Placement testing
- Ensure compliance with NCAA eligibility for student-athletes
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Counseling certification and experience preferred

- Must be a confessing and practicing Christian in a church of like-faith
- Must be an exemplary Christian role model
- Must uphold SCS’s spiritual and academic mission and philosophy of education
