What are the responsibilities and job description for the Extended School Year (ESY) Special Services Teacher position at Schaumburg Community Consolidated School District 54?
Teaching positions are available for the District 54 Extended School Year (ESY) program. Staff orientation will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025, with students attending June 10, 2025 – July 16, 2025. All Fridays and June 19 and July 3 are non-attendance days. Staff hours for ESY are 8:15am-11:45 a.m.
Job description includes:
- Implement programs and activities designed to meet each student’s individual strengths and challenges in relation to learning needs, including academic, social emotional and sensory needs.
- Collect data for progress monitoring of growth in relationship to curriculum and the IEP.
- Provide a supportive atmosphere to enhance each student’s affective development.
- Provide supports for student behavior consistent with the plans utilized throughout the school year.
- Implement core curriculum consistent with the academic expectations utilized throughout the school year. This may include reviewing concepts previously taught and pre-teaching curriculum for the upcoming school year to prevent regression.
- Provide technical expertise/ guidance to paraprofessionals.
- Develop and maintain effective staff and community relations.
Requirements: Valid Illinois State Professional Educator License with a special education endorsement
Salary: Hourly rate based on teacher salary schedule
