Responsibilities
- Supervises monitors and evaluates Site Supervisors/Education Managers and related consultant services to ensure quality programming and conducts timely and accurate performance evaluations. Supports site supervisors with development of work schedules. Participates in and as necessary facilitates monthly Education Meetings at all centers in collaboration with Site Supervisors.
- Ensures compliance with State Licensing Regulations by monitoring, evaluating and submitting required documentation. Ensures all sites have active licenses to conduct day care on premises and completes timely renewal of licenses. Responds professionally and accurately to field representatives of NYS Day Care Offices.
- Coordinates and facilitates the ELP Learning Community, Practice Based Coaching, and Quality Stars initiatives. Acts as internal coach providing support and individualized professional development as needed. Creates action plans, professional development plans and models effective practices to promote the professional development of education staff. Facilitates Teacher/TA learning through positive constructive feedback. Coordinates with an external PBC coach when necessary.
- Monitors classroom activities at all centers by conducting regularly scheduled and unscheduled visits to ensure curriculum is applied consistently and to fidelity, implements one-on-one technical assistance including demonstration of effective classroom teaching skills, provides feedback to Site Supervisors, and ensure high quality classroom environments for children.
- Assists the Director and Assistant Director with program initiatives and works as part of an agency management team to ensure consistency with program goals and that program goals are integrated agency-wide in the provision of services to families.
- Participates in the case conferencing process, case reviews, and program quality reviews as needed to ensure child and family needs are met and that all centers comply with the Head Start Performance Standards, State Licensing Regulations.
Qualifications
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Education and certification to include the Pre-K population.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience working with pre-school aged children with successful outcomes.
- Three (3) years of professional level supervisory experience in an educational setting.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to lead a team.
- Demonstrated computer expertise; consistently upgrading skills to remain up to date on the use of technology in the workplace.
- Must provide on a biennial basis a physical from a licensed health care provider, clearing you under New York State Day Care regulations.
- Background check is required prior to employment as required by NYS Day Care regulations and Federal Head Start Performance Standards.
- Knowledge and understanding of issues related to individuals and families in poverty. Ability to build upon the strengths of those we serve with diverse racial, cultural, social, educational and economic backgrounds, including high risk populations, to provide high-level services and lasting solutions to fit each individual’s and family’s needs.
- An understanding of early childhood education policy, Federal, State regulations and an understanding of the effects of poverty on children and their families is required.
