Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our team. In this critical role, you will provide exceptional care to expectant mothers during labor and delivery, ensuring a safe and positive experience for both the mother and newborn. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to manage the labor process, monitor maternal and fetal health, and support families during this significant life event.
Duties
- Assess and monitor the health status of mothers and newborns throughout the labor process.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs.
- Administer medications, including injections, as prescribed.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding labor, delivery, and postpartum care.
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
- Assist in discharge planning for mothers and newborns post-delivery.
- Participate in acute pain management strategies to enhance patient comfort.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Engage in case management activities to coordinate care across various departments.
Experience
Candidates should possess a strong background in nursing with experience in critical care or related fields. Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience in a labor and delivery clinic or medical office setting.
- Familiarity with pediatric intensive care (PICU) practices.
- Knowledge of laboratory procedures relevant to maternal-fetal health.
- Prior experience in discharge planning processes.
- Demonstrated ability in acute pain management techniques.
