Job Description:
We are seeking two dynamic and experienced traveling construction superintendents in the Tampa Bay area to work on new commercial projects and renovations! You will oversee the daily construction activities at the work site, including scheduling of subcontractors and temporary workers, delivery of equipment and materials, and progress of the project. You will be supervising hired subcontractors and occasionally hourly rated worker groups, and are responsible for the evaluation and safety of all personnel at the project location. All business must be conducted in a professional, tactful and respectful manner to serve the best interest of the company and ensure customer satisfaction.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist with the estimating/bidding process as needed.
- Schedule, co-ordinate and supervise all on site activities.
- Organize, control and motivate temporary staff & subcontractors to promote teamwork, good morale and OSHA safety standards.
- Establish and enforce jobsite discipline.
- Establish and maintain a positive relationship with many different people, including owners, architects, engineers and local building officials, craft workers.
- Operate an organized on-site project office, including but not limited to up-to-date contract documents, a project filing system and as-built construction documents.
- Translate document drawings, blueprints and specifications into work in place in the field.
- Oversee site and building layout (benchmarks, dimensional controls, etc.)
- Review and approve shop drawings in conjunction with project manager.
- Identify and resolve construction site problems.
- Monitor job progress to ensure compliance with project schedule
- Coordinate inspections with jurisdictional authorities.
- Ensure on-site equipment is secured and maintained in a proper fashion.
- Maintain and secure all company property on the jobsite.
- Generate RFI's and communicate with the project manager for submission.
- Complete all paperwork in a timely manner and submit project logs daily
- Coordinate all site deliveries and storage
- Prepare and complete punch lists.
- Coordinate all parties responsible for owner occupancy and move them in on schedule.
- Maintain project as-built drawings.
Job Skills, Knowledge, Training and Experience:
- Advanced knowledge of construction principles, techniques and procedures.
- Ability to understand architectural plans and specifications.
- Must possess outstanding skills in evaluating information, organizing and problem solving.
- Ability to troubleshoot and develop alternate methods of construction in the field to produce more timely, higher quality and less costly construction.
- Ability to be flexible and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to motivate teams to produce quality construction within given timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.
- Ability to control, lead and supervise temporary personnel and subcontractors.
- Must possess excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Must be a self starter.
- Must maintain a professional appearance at all times
Education and Training Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of five years experience in construction industry.
Employee Certifications Preferred:
- OSHA certification
- CCM
