Primary Purpose :
The Transportation Lead Driver under the direct supervision of a transportation supervisor will assist with daily operations as well as drive an assigned regular route. This position will collaborate with the supervisors to oversee daily operations of the Transportation Department as it pertains to bus drivers and bus monitors. Qualifications :
Education / Certification :
- Must be 21 years of age.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- One-year experience as a school bus driver (preferred).
- Possess a class B commercial driver's license with "S" and "P" endorsements that meets District requirements.
- Must register through the Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
- Ability to pass a criminal background check, pre-employment physical examination.
- Ability to follow verbal instructions.
- Ability to operate safety / adaptive equipment and work with children with disabilities.
Major Responsibilities and Duties :
Supervisory Duties :
Foster a positive work environment.
Monitor and report to supervisor the work of assigned bus drivers and bus monitors as necessary.

Maintain emotional control under stress. Prolonged sitting; frequent standing and twisting; occasional kneeling / squatting, bending, stooping, and pushing / pulling. Prolonged driving; moderate walking; frequent climbing stairs, grasping / squeezing, wrist and should flexion / extension, and reaching; limited light; ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and staff; ability to maintain effective control over groups of students and co-workers; ability to deal with challenging situations as well as life threatening emergencies.
