Job Summary
The Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City Independent School District is seeking a skilled Mechanic to join our Transportation Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our fleet of vehicles to ensure they are safe and efficient for our students and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily preventive maintenance on vehicles, including tire checks, oil changes, and fluid level checks.
- Repair and maintain vehicles, using diagnostic equipment and performing mechanical maintenance.
- Drive a school bus route as necessary.
- Respond to calls for assistance outside the Transportation Facility.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties.
- Keep the shop, equipment, and tools in a safe operating condition and report any unsafe conditions.
- Work irregular hours as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Possess a valid Texas Commercial Driver's License with a P and an S endorsement.
- Ability to pass alcohol and drug testing, a driver's license check, and a criminal background check.
- Must pass a pre-employment and annually renewed State required physical examination.
- Have a minimum of two years of experience as a mechanic, preferably with ASE Certification.
- Physical ability to function effectively and safely in a shop environment.
Working Conditions
The Mechanic will work in a fast-paced environment with moderate exposure to extreme temperatures, vehicle fumes, and moving parts. The position requires occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
