Primary Purpose
To provide general assistance to teachers and students by supporting instructional needs and work-based learning experiences in the community. Assist in implementation of transition-related activities including, daily living skills, social skills, functional academics, and behavioral management. Supporting students with job development skills within the community.

To include things such as a wheelchair lift, ramp, computer, copier, and audiovisual equipment
Working Conditions
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors
Maintain emotional control under stress. Traveling extensively during school hours with students to local business. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling; regular heavy lifting of students. Biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases.

Qualifications: Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or GED
- 48 college hours or have met formal academic assessment as required by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)
- Valid Texas educational aide certificate
- Must pass a pre-employment physical examination
- Valid Texas driver's license
- Ability to work with young adults with disabilities
- Knowledge pertaining to job training and development
- Ability to exercise judgment in handling student behaviors and in assessing student skill level
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Knowledge of general office equipment
- Must have personal transportation and be able to use it for job coaching
- Must demonstrate the belief that all students can work
- Some experience working with individuals with disabilities
Instructional Support
- Help teacher prepare any instructional materials.
- Document student progress on a regular basis and maintain a written record.
- Assist in matching student to appropriate jobs and develop job leads.
- Help maintain a neat and orderly area in which the students train or work.
- Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of any equipment.
- Represent the district in a professional manner using both verbal and written skills.
- Provide instructional support for students in a work-based learning environment.
- Provide instructional support.
- Assist students with physical disabilities according to their needs, including transferring to and from wheelchairs, lifting, and/or positioning.
- Assist students with physical needs and personal care, including feeding, bathroom needs, and personal hygiene.
- Help manage behavior of students. This includes intervening in crisis situations to de-escalate disruptive or dangerous student behavior as needed.
- Assume responsibility for learning and adapting to each student's special medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs.
- Help supervise students throughout their scheduled day.
- Collaborate with the teacher on individual student needs.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Operate a district vehicle on an assigned route in transporting students/employees to work based learning sites as well as related activities, in a safe, timely manner.
- Obtain a CDL, Commercial Driver's License, during the 2024-2025 school year to transport students in and around the community. (Training for the CDL will be provided.)
- Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned.
