Primary Purpose
Follows routine cleaning and maintenance procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations and grounds.

Uses buffer, stripper, wet and dry vacuum cleaner, electric drill, shampooer, etc.

Qualifications
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of all aspects of cleaning and basic techniques of minor repairs
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment
- Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies
- Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
- Must pass a pre-employment physical examination
- Available to work evening hours
- Preferable one year custodial experience.
- Maintain a program of preventive maintenance to ensure the comfort, health, and safety of students and staff.
- Assume the responsibility of locking, checking, and safeguarding facilities.
- Develop and maintain a cleaning schedule that will include the cleaning of floors, chalkboards, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment, and restrooms.
- Keeps the building clean, sanitary, and comfortable during duty hours.
- Helps prevent property loss that may be caused by freezing, neglect or careless usage.
- Practice economy by turning off all utilities when not needed, and practices "preventive maintenance" by keeping all door stops, lock, etc, in serviceable condition.
- Keeps floors clean, waxed, and buffed as scheduled.
- Keep restroom fixtures, hardware, tile, mirrors, etc. clean and replenishes supplies as needed.
- Cleans door facing and washes windows as scheduled.
- Maintains school yard as scheduled.
- Attends custodial training and/or inservice sessions.
- Reports damage or maintenance needs to head custodian.
- Replaces light bulbs that can be reached with a 6 ft ladder.
- Follows daily duty schedule as assigned by head custodian.
