Store Manager
Reports to Operations Supervisor
SUMMARY
Responsible for making all sales goals in a manner which maximizes the profitability of the store. Additionally, the Store Manager has the responsibility for hiring and/or approving each member of the staff; seeing that they are fully trained and competent to perform the job to which they are assigned. The Store Manager is responsible for managing all employees in that store on a daily basis and works collaboratively with the credit department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maximizing Profitability
- Implement actions to achieve all monthly sales quotas
- Maintain acceptable levels of expenditures
- Maintain inventory at prescribed levels
- Implement the Business Builder Program
- Follow up with on-line coupons and credit applications
- Maintain all three CCO numbers
- Hold daily sales meetings to inform and motivate
Resolve All Customer Complaints
- Communicate directly with every customer who lodges a complaint
- Follow the outlined customer complaint procedure
- Keep complete records of all pending customer complaints
- Resolve complaints in the most cost efficient and timely manner
Oversee Performance of All Store Level Personnel
- Perform daily, weekly and monthly manager responsibilities
- Formulate solutions to problems that are preventing any department from achieving satisfactory level performance
- Make personnel changes through the prescribed disciplinary process
- Review all credit turndowns and conditioned applications
Control of Expenditures
- Payroll budgets
- Truck, heat, lights, water
- Office operations
- Charge back to vendors for repairs
- Facility and equipment maintenance
- Review controlled expenses regularly to ensure competitive pricing
Determine Merchandise Brought into Store Location
- Write all purchase orders
- Write or review all requisitions uploaded to Central
- Review back order daily
- Review transfers to other stores
Oversee Security of Operation
- Inspect store and warehouse daily for proper storage of merchandise
- Take spot category inventories periodically to verify accuracy
- Count cash drawers each month
Proper Tagging of Merchandise
- Change all tags when new line-up prices are received
- Remove or supervise removal of drop tags at end of promotions when appropriate
Communicate to All Personnel Corporate Directives Regarding Store
- Conduct store level meetings once a week
- Post directives from corporate on bulletin boards
Review of Company Documents
- Sign all documents listed on daily report, invoices, accounts receivable report
- Review thoroughly for accuracy before initialing and note any discrepancies
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Occasionally, the Operations Supervisor may request the Store Manager perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Individual must demonstrate that he or she is a self-motivated individual who has the ability to supervise and discipline other employees and have a strong commitment to ensuring that the procedures and policies of Schewel Furniture Company are strictly followed by all store personnel.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to use hand to fingers, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to move or lift up to 100 pounds. The person must have basic computer skills and be able to visually inspect merchandise and delivery documents.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- High school graduate is required, college experience is preferred. Extensive retail experience is required and preferably in the furniture/appliance industry. Must have demonstrated an ability to perform retail duties and ideally has worked in increasingly more responsible positions which make them an ideal candidate for the Store Manager position.
