What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Engineer position at Schiavone?
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage construction activities in the field, ensuring adherence to project specifications and schedules.
- Coordinate with project managers, superintendents and other stakeholders to provide technical support and resolve construction challenges.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and quality control procedures on job sites.
- Review and interpret construction plans, drawings, and specifications.
- Monitor daily progress and performance, including manpower, equipment, and materials, and provide reports to project management.
- Oversee and document site inspections, material testing, and other quality assurance activities.
- Assist in preparing and reviewing project documentation, such as daily reports, RFIs (Requests for Information), and change orders.
- Provide field support for construction teams, including troubleshooting and resolving technical issues as they arise.
- Ensure proper documentation of field activities, including photographs, drawings, and reports, for project records.
- Assist in coordination with subcontractors, vendors, and material suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
- Participate in project meetings and provide updates on field progress and any issues or delays.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Previous experience in heavy civil construction, including experience with roads, bridges, utilities, or large-scale infrastructure projects, is a plus
- Strong understanding of construction methods, safety protocols, and industry standards.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications.
- Proficient in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing project requirements.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various job sites as needed.
