A Landscape Fertilization Technician is responsible for fertilizer and pesticide application. All employees are expected to carry out the company’s mission, vision, and values.
As a Landscape Fertilization Technician at Schill Grounds Management, you must be able to perform the following essential functions of the job:
- Fertilizer and pesticide application (according to schedule) to lawns, trees, and shrubs.
- Responsible for weed control, shrub care, and aeration.
- Must use proper application techniques and compliance with ODA standards, rules, and regulations.
- Assist Client Care Specialist/Account Manager with estimates.
- Perform service calls and lawn inspections.
- Provide excellent customer service by handling customer issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Educate customers on the proper care of their lawn and landscape.
- Follow all proper safety procedures.
- Maintain the cleanliness, safety, and general maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
- Perform snow removal in the winter months.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
JOB SKILLS AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
- Availability to work a varied schedule including Saturdays, as needed
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions including wet, rain, snow, or extreme heat or cold
- Basic understanding of mechanical landscape equipment
- Ability to identify plants, preferred
- Knowledge of fertilization and pesticides is preferred
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Valid driver’s license is preferred, with acceptable driving record to meet fleet insurance standards
Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test
Must be able to move and/or lift up to 60 pounds consistently
High school diploma or GED, preferred
Ability to operate the equipment listed above, in addition to other commonly used landscaping equipment
WORK CONDITIONS
Employees performing this job should be able and willing to drive or travel locally, if needed. Schedules for this position may vary and may require flexibility to work extended hours. Potential work hours during the snow season include nighttime, weekends, and holidays to participate with snow removal activities. This position will require working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions including rain, snow, sun, extreme cold or heat.
