A Training Landscape Crew Leader at Schill Grounds Management, you must be able to perform the following essential functions of the job:
- Execute projects such as hardscapes, outdoor lighting, and landscape/lawn installations from a landscape plan.
- Manage the entire scope of our projects including job layout, materials, and required paperwork.
- Use various equipment including skid steer, mini excavator, sod cutters, bush hogs, brick saws, transits, and various hand tools.
- Drive a commercial vehicle and pull a trailer.
- Manage, develop, and effectively communicate with your crew.
- Develop and maintain long-term relationships with our customers.
- Supervise a snow zone during the winter including managing crews, location, and quality control.
- Educate and Train New Hires on Proper SOP of all equipment.
- Conduct Hands- on Demonstrations and ensure employees understand safe handling procedures.
- Monitor and Evaluate Trainee progress, providing feedback and additional training as needed.
- Collaborate with Operations Team to identify training needs and improve efficiency
- Ensure all trainees comply with safety guidelines, company policies, and industry regulations.
- Maintain detailed records and provide progress reports to the operations team.
- Determine when a trainee has met all qualifications and is ready to graduate from the training crew.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.

- Previous experience as a Crew Leader
- Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively train and assess new employees
- Knowledge of safety procedures, OSHA regulations, PPE, and equipment maintenance
- Attention to detail, problem- solving skills, and a proactive approach to training
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record to meet fleet insurance standards
Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test
One year of experience leading landscape crews
Must have advanced mowing equipment experience
Previous experience setting up commercial mowing sites, preferred
Strong computer skills and the ability to adapt to new software programs
Must be able to move and/or lift up to 60 pounds consistently
WORK CONDITIONS
Employees performing this job should be able and willing to drive or travel locally if needed. Schedules for this position may vary and may require flexibility to work extended hours. Potential work hours during the snow season include nighttime, weekends, and holidays to participate in snow removal activities. This position will require working outdoors in various weather conditions including rain, snow, sun, extreme cold, or heat.
