We are seeking a detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our Accounting team in our Rye Brook office. This is an in-office role ideal for someone with foundational accounting knowledge who is eager to grow their professional skills. Junior Accountants are responsible for assisting with daily financial operations, including data entry, reconciliations, licensing & tax compliance, and basic financial reporting. This role involves supporting the finance team with essential tasks, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all accounting activities.
Key Responsibilities
We are seeking a detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our Accounting team in our Rye Brook office. Junior Accountants are responsible for assisting with daily financial operations, including data entry, reconciliations, licensing & tax compliance, and basic financial reporting. This role involves supporting the finance team with essential tasks, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all accounting activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining accurate financial records, including accounts payable and receivables, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations
- Enter financial transactions into accounting software with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Prepare monthly sales and use tax returns and schedules
- Track and file business licenses in various states and cities
- Manage Travel and Expense corporate card reconciliations. Identify and resolve issues within the process
- Provide support for audit and compliance reviews, including preparing schedules and information for sales tax audits
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports and statements, providing insights into financial performance as needed
- Review and process vendor invoices, ensuring compliance with company policies and timely payments. Identify and resolve issues within accounts payable processes
- Work closely with senior accountants, accounting team members, and other departments to streamline processes and improve financial reporting
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field, or equivalent experience
- At least 2 years of accounting experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software (ie. Quickbooks, Timberline)
- Construction experience preferred
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
