What are the responsibilities and job description for the Night Maintenance position at Schlitterbahn New Braunfels?
Night maintenance personnel are responsible for ensuring the ride attractions' surfaces are sufficient for rider occupancy. Various components or materials are used to repair surfaces such as fiberglass, foam, and concrete.
Responsibilities:
- Maintenance personnel make small impact adjustments or repairs to surfaces to limit downtime while upholding safety priorities. Cosmetic or surface painting of slides and elements may be required to maintain premature wear or failure on foam and fiberglass.
- They complete work orders where fiberglass or foam failures have occurred, using technical skills to provide a balance between all stages of the repair. This process involves following 3-4 steps for proper repairs and managing time effectively to ensure success.
- As directed, maintenance personnel clean all rides and attractions utilizing a routine schedule to maintain a positive image. Various cleaning methods, including power washing, chlorine washing, acid washing, and degreasing, are performed on a weekly basis or as time permits.
- The maintenance personnel set up and take down awnings, shade covers, or funbella tops throughout the facility based on necessity. They perform minor repairs and prepare items for shipping when directed by the Rides supervisor.
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Maintenance personnel must follow instructions from manufacturers, including part A & B mixing or dilution ratios, hand and power tool usage, heat gun or other heat bending device operation for foam manipulation, and ability to work nights during summer.
- Applicants must be at least 21 years old.
- A valid State Driver's License and proof of personal vehicle insurance are also required.
Physical Requirements:
- Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, picking, pinching, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion of the hands, wrists, and/or fingers are essential tasks.
- This role requires very heavy work, exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- The position demands visual acuity to perform activities such as operating machines, performing mechanical or skilled trades, and working in various environmental conditions.
- Maintenance personnel are exposed to environmental conditions such as rain, direct/indirect sun, and heat for extended periods.
- They work in both indoor and outdoor environments and are subject to extreme cold and heat temperatures, noise, hazards, atmospheric conditions, and multiple high-stress situations simultaneously.
