Job Title: Lab Technician - Well Production Systems

Location: Schlumberger Rosharon Center, Rosharon, TX USA

Description:

The Lab Technician develops, evaluates, and tests materials such as polymers and metals that are used for downhole tools for Well Production System’s Product line.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Ability to conduct routine laboratory activities with minimal guidance and supervision within established procedures and support the laboratory in preparing and testing polymer and metal samples.
• Collaborate with engineers and scientists to perform tests by operating characterization tools and equipment such as a tensile test machine, dynamic scanning calorimeter (DSC), and thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA).
• Document material and coupon preparation processes and findings and communicate results with engineers and scientists.
• Coordinate and schedule tests based on backlogs.
• Independently organize and prioritize assigned workloads.
• Maintain a clean and safe lab working environment.
• Ensure that laboratory equipment is calibrated and inspected (by a third-party) so that it operates efficiently to meet delivery schedules.
• Create detailed work instructions and hazard risk analyses.

Qualifications:

• AA/AS Associate degree in sciences, applied sciences or relevant fields with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
• A Bachelor’s degree in sciences, applied sciences or relevant fields is a plus
• Ability to coordinate and perform multiple/concurrent tasks in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner.
• Hands-on experience with materials characterization techniques and instrumentation for polymer and/or metal materials.
• Ability to learn new knowledge and process for characterizing elastomeric and metal materials.
• Effective team member with communication and basic computer skills critical to document tests.
• Proactive execution - sets project timeline and follows action plans to achieve desired results.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge and experience in operating Instron uniaxial test equipment, thermal analysis apparatus (e.g., Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Dynamic Mechanical Analyzer (DMA), Thermo-Gravimetric Analysis (TGA), Thermo-Mechanical Analyzer (TMA)), and optical analysis apparatus (e.g., profilometer)) are a huge plus
