Job Description: Superintendent

As Superintendent you are the key to maintaining site employee schedules and keeping projects on track through daily tasks. You must have a strong background of skilled craftsman experience and proven communication skills with supervisors, clients, and employees. You will uphold our standards of excellence by applying your skills and helping train those under you to reach the same standards. Punctuality is a must and will be a strong, determining factor in continued employment. This position reports to the Owner and works closely with the Project Manager.
Specific Responsibilities
- Onsite Management: o Oversee day to day onsite construction activities. o Ensure that all work is carried out according to project plans, specification, and local building codes. o Supervise and coordinate subcontractors and vendors, including scheduling and monitoring their work progress.
- Team Management: o Recruit, train, and manage onsite labor force. o Provide leadership and guidance to construction crews, ensuring productivity and efficiency. o Maintain a positive and collaborative work environment among team members.
- Quality Control: o Conduct regular quality inspections to ensure proper craftsmanship. o Address any issues or deficiencies promptly. o Monitor the implementation of quality assurance processes.
- Safety Compliance: o Enforce all safety policies and procedures on the construction site. o Identify and mitigate potential safety hazards to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Project Coordination: o Collaborate with the Project Manager to ensure that project timelines and milestones are met. o Communicate project progress, challenges, and deviation from plans to the Project Manager in a timely manner. o Work closely with subcontractors and suppliers to coordinate deliveries and installations.
- Hands-on Work: o Wear a tool belt and perform hands on tasks when needed, particularly for installations or specialized work. o Lead by example, demonstrating craftsmanship and attention to detail in all aspects of construction.
- Reporting: o Maintain accurate and up to date records of onsite activities, including progress reports and safety documentation. o Generate reports and communicate project status to stakeholders as required.
Qualifications and Requirements
- 10 years of custom residential construction experience
- Proven track record of successfully managing onsite construction projects from start to finish
- In-depth knowledge of construction methods, techniques, and materials
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and safety standards
- Attention to a high level of detail
- Consistent work ethic and positive attitude
- Valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation
