Position Summary
Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Director, Speaking Center- Boca Raton, FL.
Summary Of Responsibilities
- Oversight for daily operations of the University-wide Speaking Center including managing the Speaking Center Budget.
- Oversee recruitment, selection, training, and supervision of Speaking consultants, GTAs, and Speaking Center interns.
- Coordinate academic support services with faculty and academic departments, specific to courses and disciplines.
- Coordinate Speaking Center initiatives to support non-course related communication, such as preparation for undergraduate research presentations, student leadership speeches, interview skills, “poetry slams,” effective teaching practice, and other related communication opportunities as appropriate.
- Collect, analyze, assess, and report data related to student performance and outcomes in courses and overall institutional performance and outcomes as it relates to participation in Speaking Center programs.
- Ensure support for special populations (including online students, student-athletes, students with disabilities, students with academic difficulty, and other targeted at-risk student populations).
- Maintain all aspects of program marketing, including Speaking Center website and social media site, participation in university admissions, orientation, and other special events, and class and/or group/club presentations.
- Plan, develop, implement, and assess various additional programs and initiatives for undergraduate students to support institutional initiatives to increase retention rates, graduation rates, and other key metrics.
- Represent the department on the university, SUS, or state committees. Explore, identify, and apply for external resources through grants, philanthropy, etc.
- Report outcomes related to campaigns, including Progress Reports and Midterm Grades (fall and spring semesters).
- Assist the associate dean in data analysis and reporting related to CTL activities, data benchmarking, cohort-specific outcomes, and outcomes related to outreach efforts and center use.
- Perform other related job-related duties as assigned.
