This position provides coordination, support, and assistance across all emergency management program elements, operations, and initiatives for the University. This position may supervise student interns or volunteers and serve as a member of the University's Emergency Operations Team. This position supports FAU's Department of Emergency Management before, during, and after all emergencies and incidents.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience required.

Strong public speaking skills with experience facilitating trainings, briefings, and tabletop or functional exercises.
Ability to develop and deliver engaging presentations and outreach materials tailored to a variety of campus stakeholders.
Working knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is desirable.
Working knowledge of Federal, State, and local regulations and guidelines related to emergency management.
Ability to communicate both professionally and efficiently in verbal and written communication.
Knowledge of webpage development and communication platforms such as social media.

Summary Of Responsibilities
Planning, Policy, and Program Development:
- Coordinate the development, implementation, and monitoring of emergency management policies, programs, plans, procedures, and related initiatives in accordance with federal, state, and local emergency management requirements, standards, and best practices.
- Conduct hazard and risk assessments, surveys, and data analysis to identify vulnerabilities and recommend improvements. Assists with coordinating assessments and surveys related to the University's susceptibility to natural, technological, and man-made disasters.
- Coordinate the formulation and implementation of mitigation, business continuity, continuity of operations, and recovery strategies to ensure the continuity of critical functions during and after emergencies.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of a multi-year exercise calendar, ensuring a balanced approach to testing all critical functions and response capabilities over time.
- Design, coordinate, facilitate, and evaluate exercises, drills, and training in accordance with the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP).
- Develop, implement, and manage an evaluation framework and integrated preparedness plan (IPP) that systematically captures lessons learned and areas for enhancement identified through exercises and real-world events, ensuring continuous program improvement.
- Maintain and monitor metrics, benchmarks, and program effectiveness indicators.
- Coordinate with local, state, and federal emergency management agencies and other key stakeholders to ensure the training and exercise program is comprehensive, inclusive, and meets all regulatory and other standards.
- Serve as essential personnel and support Emergency Operations Center (EOC) activities during activations, including staffing, documentation, coordination of emergency support functions, and situational awareness.
- Serve as a member of the University's Emergency Operations Team and is considered essential personnel and is required to be present, work remotely, or on-call during emergencies or disasters.
- Manage technological/data/information platforms and resources, including leading the development of, testing, training, troubleshooting, and coordinating repairs and projects for the department and Emergency Operations Center. This includes emergency notification systems and emergency operations software.
- Manage department and Emergency Operations Center resources such as equipment, supplies, vehicles, and emergency notification system hardware, including inspection, testing, performing, or coordinating repairs and projects.
- Assists with the coordination with the FAU Emergency Operations Center and associated emergency staff and facilitates the coordination of emergency support functions by the University, local, public, state, and federal agencies, and entities.
- Develop, coordinate, and facilitate public outreach initiatives to promote, educate, and train students, faculty, staff, and non-FAU entities on preparedness and emergency response procedures.
- Represent the Department on committees, working groups, and during community engagement activities, promoting collaborative planning and partnerships.
- Deliver briefings and informational sessions to internal and external audiences regarding emergency preparedness, continuity planning, response efforts, and recovery strategies.
- Identify and support the pursuit of grant opportunities related to emergency management, continuity, and resilience.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and manage grant proposals and projects.
- Maintain emergency management-related technology, data systems, and program documentation.
- Support departmental operations and continuous improvement through project management, reporting, and innovation.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned to support the mission of the Department of Emergency Management.
