Schmitt Title, LLC in Oshkosh, Wisconsin is looking for an experienced and licensed Title Examiner. Schmitt Title has been leading the title insurance industry in Oshkosh since the 1940s. Schmitt Title operates in a state of the art building remodeled in 2018, in downtown Oshkosh. This position offers competitive pay and full benefits, with paid holidays. Final pay is negotiable, based on experience.
This position is located on-site, no remote work.
Essential Duties:
- Research the history of a particular property, to access the public records, and to find its risks (or lack thereof) of insurability. This includes locating records about property taxes, liens and judgments, bankruptcy, mortgages, easements, restrictions and foreclosure proceedings during or preceding the title’s existence.
- Research and computer-based skills.
- They would also perform other duties as assigned by management.
Job Functions:
- Examine and verify title vesting on properties and verify the legal description of the property.
- Search public real estate records, and tax records.
- Examine document found in search, such as deeds, mortgage, easements, restrictions, judgments, liens.
- Prepare title documents such as reports and title commitments.
- Compile lists of mortgages, contracts, and other instruments pertaining to titles by searching public and private records for law firms, real estate agencies, or lenders.
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma and/or GED, required
- Real Estate Title Experience, preferred
- Post High School education, preferred (business administration, legal or related field)
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to analyze information to completion
- High accuracy and attention to detail
