Job Description:
Schnabel Engineering is seeking a highly skilled MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) Resident Engineer to join our distinguished team for a project located in Alexandria, VA. With a reputation for excellence built over a decade, Schnabel Engineering shapes the foundation of our urban infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be playing an essential role in our team, ensuring every project we undertake observes the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
Job Responsibilities:
- As Owner’s representative oversee the day-to-day management and inspection of on-going construction.
- Coordinate with the Owner’s Construction Manager, Plant Operations, Engineer of Record, Contractor, and special inspection team.
- Coordinate your field staff overseeing MEP capital projects at water/wastewater treatment facilities, including new construction, upgrades and replacement in kind
- Mentoring your MEP REI team
- Ensure all work is performed according to design specifications and safety regulations.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and quality.
- Resolve any technical issues that arise during the installation process.
- Prepare and maintain documentation regarding project progress.
- Assist in the preparation of project schedules and budgets.
- Collaborate with other engineers and professionals to ensure the smooth execution of the project.
- Engage with CMIS system (Procore, e-Builder, SmartSheet, etc.)
- Lead weekly progress meetings
Required Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related engineering field.
- Experience as an MEP Resident Engineer or MEP similar role.
- 5 years experience as an MEP Field Engineer or MEP similar role.
- Strong understanding of MEP systems and construction practices.
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to work with the Contractor and Engineer to solve site issues impacting quality, safety, production and schedule.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of relevant health and safety standards.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record, and credit check
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
The compensation range for this position is between $140,000 to $150,000. Compensation for this position may vary based on geographic location and other factors. We remain committed to providing competitive and equitable compensation to all employees, regardless of their location.
