Job Description:
Schnabel Engineering is seeking a highly skilled MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) Resident with strong process equipment/system/facility testing and commissioning experience for water or wastewater facilities to join our distinguished team for a project located in Alexandria, VA. The ideal candidate will play an essential role in our team, ensuring every project we undertake observes the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
Job Responsibilities:
- As Resident Engineer manage the day-today management and inspection of on-going wastewater treatment plant construction.
- Coordination between the Owner’s CM team, Plant Operations, Engineers of Record, Contractors, and special inspection teams.
- Coordinate your field staff overseeing the construction of a new CSO tunnel Screening facility, Pump Station, near surface diversion structures within an operating wastewater facility
- Manage your team’s and Contractor oversight of quality/safety, checkout & testing, functional testing, commissioning, and turnover of a CSO Tunnel dewatering facility and 130 MGD wet weather pump station, including structural, MEP, architectural and site finishes.
- Participate in resolving technical issues that arise during the installation process.
- Participate in development of O&M manuals and Commissioning Plans.
- Review MEP designs, submittals, workplans, Plant Impact Requests
- Participate in reviews of project schedules and resource loading.
- Collaborate with other engineers and professionals to ensure the smooth execution of the project.
- Engage with CMIS system (Procore, e-Builder, SmartSheet, etc.)
- Participate in multiple project progress meetings
Required Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related engineering field.
- Experience as an MEP Manager, Coordinator, Resident Engineer or MEP similar role.
- 10 years of experience as an MEP Resident Engineer on similar type and size projects.
- 15 years as Assistant Resident Engineer or MEP Manager
- Strong understanding of MEP systems and construction practices.
- Strong process equipment/system/facility testing and commissioning experience for industrial, water or wastewater facilities including large capacity pump stations and screening systems.
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to work with the Contractor and Engineer to solve site issues impacting quality, safety, production and schedule.
- Strong written and oral communication and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of relevant health and safety standards.

The compensation range for this position is between $140,000 to $170,000. Compensation for this position may vary based on geographic location and other factors. We remain committed to providing competitive and equitable compensation to all employees, regardless of their location.
