Schnabel Engineering is seeking a Senior Geophysicist/Geologist (10 years preferred) in our Chadds Ford, PA office to help support our growing geophysical group. In this role, you will provide management, technical support, and business development for applying geophysical applications to a variety of multidisciplinary civil engineering projects. As an employee-owner, you will have a say in how our business operates and you will directly benefit from our financial success.
We are looking for a motivated candidate to join our team of more than seven geophysicists to support our efforts on interesting and challenging projects mostly across the United States, and occasionally in other countries. This position will consist of all phases of services related to geophysical projects and tasks: business development, scope and proposal development, technical work either onsite or by guiding other staff, data analysis, report writing, and invoicing. In addition, this position includes working with the geophysics team for training and resource sharing, mentoring, and the role may also consist of supporting our geotechnical group with project management or related services as the need arises.

- Manage, execute, and provide technical support, in a team setting, and on a variety of challenging geophysical projects
- Preparation and review of geophysical scopes, proposals, deliverables and reports for a variety of applications, projects, and clients.
- Communicate with clients, establish goals and objectives for projects, and schedule and coordinate resources, to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the quality expectations of the client.
- Occasionally perform field work; train and manage field personnel. As the geophysical team grows, serve as a direct supervisor to oversee, develop, and mentor geophysical staff.
- Participate in the cohesive, positive culture of the geophysical group, and company-wide, to maintain and cultivate a best-in-class environment that allows our people to realize their full potential.
- Analyze and process geophysical data, prepare figures; train staff on analysis methods; follow QA/QC of geophysical data and deliverables in accordance with procedures.
- Conduct business development activities within Schnabel and with external clients.
- Supporting our geotechnical group with project management or related services as the need arises.
- Provide senior technical expertise on geophysical tasks and projects.
- Participate in professional organizations through the delivery of presentations and technical papers.
- Bachelor's Degree in Geophysics, Geology or related Science
- 10 or more years of professional experience (15 years preferred)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and set and follow your own schedule, and set expectations from supporting staff to meet project deadlines
- Strong work ethic and a desire for continual self-improvement
- Willingness and ability to perform field work and travel, including assignments that may last a few days to a week, or occasionally a few weeks away from the office
- Driver’s license and ability to drive company or rental vehicles
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and be physically able to negotiate undeveloped wooded areas with steep terrain, construction sites, enter trenches, climb ladders, and work outside
- Master’s Degree in related field preferred
- PG and/or PGp Licensure preferred
- Experience in some or all of the following preferred: Surfer, Geosoft oasis montaj, Radan, Examiner, Surfseis, Seisimager, Rayfract, RES@DINV, EarthImager
- Experience with OpenGround, GIS, qGIS, CADD is helpful
- Ability to achieve security clearance is helpful
- MSHA, OSHA 30 HR, OSHA HAZWOPER training and up to date refreshers are helpful
- Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record and credit check
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
