Key Responsibilities :
Coordinating with the client, the MEP / FP / IT design team, and other consultants to ensure the design is consistent with the client’s vision, to identify and resolve areas of conflict, to ensure a fully coordinated interdisciplinary design, and to ensure the design schedule is maintained.
Participate in meetings and conference calls when deemed necessary.
Becoming familiar with the codes that are applicable to the project.
Using AutoCAD and other software to create electrical construction document packages which include plans including electrical distribution equipment, devices (receptacles, etc.), equipment connections, luminaires, controls, fire alarm initiating devices and notification appliances, all associated circuitry, appropriate schedules and details, one line / riser diagrams, and construction specifications.
Performing all required calculations to support design decisions, including load calculations, short-circuit calculations, and photometric calculations.
Coordinating with local utility companies to provide the required utility services to the project.
Coordinating with equipment vendors and manufacturer’s representatives for selection and specification of appropriate equipment.
Provide construction administration (CA) services, including answering requests for information (RFIs).
Provide mentoring and guidance for colleagues.
What We Are Looking For :
In possession of an ABET-accredited degree in Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis or Electrical Engineering with a focus in power systems.
Three to five years of electrical design experience with an MEP / FP engineering consultant.
Proficiency with NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) and NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm & Signaling Code) is preferred.
In possession of, or ability to obtain, Engineer-Intern (EI) and / or Professional Engineer (PE) credentials in Electrical Engineering.
Exceptional communication and organization skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and multitask.
Ability to work independently and efficiently upon receiving necessary direction and information.
