What are the responsibilities and job description for the Application Design Engineer position at Schneider Electric?
The Application Design Engineer will support the regional development of libraries, debugging. Testing and supporting pre-sales customer facing Architects to execute projects in the region working with Schneider Electric’s Next Generation Automation Platform, EcoStruxure Automation Expert (EAE). The ideal candidate needs to understand the concept of IEC61499 and other event driven programming languages and its engineering efficiencies for automation developers.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate EAE Benefits: Showcase how EAE features assist customers with their applications and projects.
- Animate Workshops: Conduct workshops to help customers design, organize, and execute code on EAE.
- Performance Testing: Implement and test customer architectures to highlight performance and reduce risks.
- Develop Key Libraries: Create essential library elements (CATs) to support projects and enhance user satisfaction.
- Support Project Execution: Guide customers through the implementation phase of their projects.
- Feedback Loop: Maintain communication with the global EAE development team, representing customer needs.
- Train System Integrators: Support and train local System Integrators to effectively implement EAE.
- Demo Area Maintenance: Build and maintain a demo area for both hardware and software in your region.
- Create Technical Demos: Develop personalized UVPs and demos that address specific customer pain points.
- Document and Share Success: Record processes, create use cases, and share success stories to promote best practices.
Qualifications:
- Degree in either of the following: Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science IT programing
- Embedded Software Engineer background, ideally with strong IT focus
- Be well versed on IIOT and the convergence between IT and OT
- Experience or exposure to OPC UA or Modbus TCP/IP
- Experience in the following programming language: C/C , Python, JavaScript
- OT knowledge is important but can be learnt at Schneider (cross pollination)
- Essential to this role, the candidate must be able to apply code development and design system/solution architecture that will fit onto industrial applications on the factory floor and plant to control equipment and processes.
- Proved experience in automation solution development and programming.
- Willingness to travel extensively, with approximately 25% of time spent on the road supporting clients, attending industry events, and supporting regional initiatives.
- This position requires in-office presence at least four days a week at our Morrisville, NC location, ensuring effective collaboration and in lab project execution.
