For this U.S. based position, the expected compensation range is $112,000 - $168,000 per year, which includes base pay and short-term incentive.

The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our salary ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the salary range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The Wastewater Lead Engineer will spearhead the engineering team during the development phase of Energy Saving Performance Contract (ESPC) projects, focusing on wastewater treatment facilities. This role involves generating detailed engineering deliverables that support cost estimates and clearly delineate project scope, paving the way for successful EPC contracts with clients. The ideal candidate holds a PE license, boasts 10-15 years of experience in wastewater plant design, and has a broad, cross-disciplinary engineering background to effectively lead a diverse engineering team.

  • Lead and coordinate a multidisciplinary engineering team through all phases of project development from basis of design through approved for construction documents.
  • Develop comprehensive engineering documents including designs, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports to support EPC proposals.
  • Work closely with project managers, subcontractors, equipment vendors, clients, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and project alignment with client expectations.
  • Optimize designs for energy efficiency, especially in aeration systems, to enhance performance and sustainability.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring the integration of best engineering practices.
  • Review and refine project scopes, ensuring all aspects are technically sound and feasible.
  • Participate in subcontractor, equipment vendor and client meetings to present engineering solutions, negotiate scopes, and manage expectations.
  • Oversee budget and timeline adherence, ensuring project deliverables meet contractual and quality standards.

  • PE (Professional Engineer) license.
  • Demonstrated engineering leadership with a track record of successful outcomes for projects utilizing an engineer, procure, construct contract vehicle.
  • In-depth knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, design, and compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading multidisciplinary teams through engineering, design and construction of wastewater projects.
  • Demonstrated experience with technical leadership role in relationships with subcontractors and equipment vendors.
  • EDUCATION :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering
  • EXPERIENCE :

  • A minimum of 10-15 years in engineering with significant focus on wastewater treatment facility design.
  • Proven experience leading engineering teams through complex project phases.
  • Expertise in aeration system design, operation, and optimization.
  • Cross-disciplinary engineering experience, particularly in areas like electrical, mechanical, or process engineering, to facilitate integrated project management.
  • SKILLS & ABILITIES :

  • Strong leadership, with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team of engineers.
  • Excellent project management skills, with proficiency in managing budgets, schedules, and resources.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills, focusing on innovative, cost-effective, and energy-efficient solutions.
  • Proficient in using various engineering software for design, simulation, and project management.
  • Exceptional communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement, including client presentations and negotiations.
  • Detail-oriented, capable of overseeing multiple aspects of large-scale projects.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to evaluate cross-disciplinary engineering impacts on project outcomes.
  • Commitment to professional development and staying abreast of the latest in engineering technology and practices.

    The majority of the work is sedentary.  However, when performing job site visits the employee will encounter : moving over rough or uneven surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; recurring lifting of moderately heavy to light items.  Transporting of items such as laptop computers, tools, ladders and other heavy equipment; driving an automobile, etc.

    While performing the primary functions of the job, the employee is regularly exposed a general office environment.  During periods of project site visits, the employee will be exposed to outside weather conditions as well as mechanical equipment rooms which could consist of confined spaces and loud noises.  Employee may work in different environments while on various job sites.  This job will require approximately 20-60% travel to project sites.  Travel will occur through the use of an automobile or by airplane to destinations.
