Manufacturing Test Engineer

Responsible for FAT testing department. Duties include reviewing electrical schematics of electrical systems include the following. UPS Uninterruptible power system, switchgear, switchboards, cabling and wiring devices, transformers and PDUs, STS and Circuit breakers, coordinating the pre-set-up, installation, testing and overall quality. Facilitate the quoting process of electrical systems together with Applications Engineers. Execution of FAT/FET in accordance with Mfg standard test procedures and customer specifications of the approved project documentation (test script, plan, and procedures).

What will you do?

• Work with sales, systems engineers and customers analyzing test requirements for UPS systems including input and output switchgear, power distribution units.
• Enforce compliance with HSE policy and Electrical Safety.
• Ensures a safe test environment for test execution and proactively address safety issues relating to test technicians and visitors, facilities, equipment, and test setups.
• Ensures all lab equipment is ready for use and properly maintained and calibrated. Develops a lab safety culture and 5S program that exceeds expectations.
• Manage resources versus customer demand and specifications to cover all possible customer test requests for UPS systems, some examples but not limited to:
• Steady-state test, input/output stability, efficiency, harmonics.
• Dynamic test, step loads, overload, load sharing
• Failure simulations, batterie failure, fan failure.

• Support FAT area to solve test equipment issue including load banks, test carts, Input switchgear, switchboards, power meters, camera systems, create and manage a preventive maintenance programs, tasks, procedures, and schedules.
• Create and keep up to date manufacturing work instructions, test instructions, troubleshooting and rework procedures.
• Create, maintain, and keep current all technical training documentation to train skilled operator and test technicians, on proper set-up, quality inspections, wiring and test procedures.
• Actively participate in problem solving of manufacturing / quality issues, communicate with the factory’s quality and engineering department on technical test issues.
• Oversees the production and testing department to ensure the timely disposition of non-conforming UPS and accessories without sacrificing final product quality that could lead to operational deficiencies in fielded products. Maintain schedule and prioritization of Material Review Board items.
• Manages and reports lab metrics including safety, quality, FPY, cost, and efficiency.

What qualifications will make you successful? 

• Bachelor of science, degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics or Mechatronics.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Manufacturing or FWT/FAT environment.
• Experience involving electrical power distribution equipment (switchgear, ups).
• Ability to understand test strategies for electrical and electronic products designed for use in Data Centers, industrial controls, and distribution equipment.
• Proven ability to work successfully in a multicultural environment across various functions (design engineering, purchasing, quality, marketing, finance, Sales).
• Facilitator to drive problem solving and troubleshooting activities.
• Work with minimal supervision.
• Good knowledge of Power conversion devices (IGBTs, MOSFETs, SCRs).
