Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate the activities of environmental services staff, including environmental aides, and laundry personnel.
Ensure all areas of the facility, including resident rooms, common areas, offices, restrooms, and dining rooms, are cleaned and sanitized according to established schedules and procedures.
Monitor and maintain appropriate inventory levels for cleaning supplies, equipment, and linen, ordering replacements as necessary.
Train, develop, and evaluate staff performance, providing guidance and support to enhance their effectiveness and ensure quality service.
Conduct routine inspections of the facility to ensure that cleanliness standards are met and environmental safety protocols are adhered to.
Ensure compliance with all infection control policies, including proper use of cleaning agents, infection prevention techniques, and waste management procedures.
Assist in scheduling staff to ensure adequate coverage during peak hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Coordinate and oversee periodic deep cleaning and sanitation projects, such as floor care, window washing, and carpet cleaning.
Monitor and ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including New York State Department of Health (DOH) standards.
Respond to emergency cleaning needs promptly, such as spills, outbreaks, or other situations requiring immediate attention.
Maintain open communication with the nursing and administrative teams to address any environmental concerns or needs.
Assist with audits, reporting, and documentation related to environmental services operations, as required by state regulations and internal policies.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in environmental services or housekeeping in a healthcare or long-term care setting, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
Knowledge of cleaning techniques, infection control practices, and safety standards in healthcare settings.
Familiarity with New York State Department of Health regulations and nursing home compliance requirements.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
