Position Summary :

The Math and Science Interventionist will be responsible for providing targeted academic support to students in grades 3-8 to address learning gaps in math and science. The role includes working closely with classroom teachers to offer instructional support, designing and implementing intervention plans, and monitoring student progress. This position aims to enhance students' understanding of math and science concepts, improve their academic performance, and build confidence in these subjects.

Key Responsibilities :

Student Support :

Provide direct instructional support to a caseload of students identified as needing additional assistance in math and science.

Develop and implement intervention plans tailored to individual student needs, focusing on closing learning gaps.

Use data-driven instruction to target specific areas of weakness and provide differentiated support.

Monitor and assess students' progress regularly, adjusting interventions as necessary to ensure academic growth.

Instructional Collaboration :

Collaborate with math and science teachers to align intervention strategies with classroom instruction.

Provide resources, strategies, and tools to teachers to support the integration of intervention methods into the regular classroom setting.

Assist teachers in identifying students who may benefit from additional intervention and support.

Curriculum Development :

Develop and implement intervention curriculum and materials that align with state standards and the school's academic goals.

Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and technology to engage students in learning and improve their academic outcomes.

Data Analysis and Reporting :

Collect and analyze student performance data to identify trends, strengths, and areas of need.

Maintain accurate records of student progress and intervention outcomes.

Prepare reports and communicate student progress to teachers, parents, and school leadership.

Professional Development :

Participate and lead professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in math and science intervention.

Share knowledge and strategies with colleagues to promote a culture of continuous improvement in math and science education.

Parental Engagement :

Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about their child's progress, providing strategies and resources for support at home.

Involve parents in the intervention process by conducting meetings, workshops, and conferences as needed.

Qualifications :

Skills & Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Education, Math, Science, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.

Valid teaching certification with a focus on math and / or science.

Experience in teaching or providing intervention support in math and science at the elementary or middle school level.

Strong understanding of math and science curricula, instructional strategies, and intervention methods.

Proficient in using educational technology and data management tools.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications :

Experience working with diverse student populations and addressing various learning needs.

Ability to design and implement effective intervention strategies.

Knowledge of current trends and best practices in math and science education.

Working Conditions :

The position may require occasional late afternoon, evening or weekend hours for meetings or professional development.

The role may involve working with students in one-on-one, small group, or classroom settings.

Salary : Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
