THE OPPORTUNITY
Scholastic Inc, the leading children's publisher, is seeking an experienced Financial Analyst for its International division, based in its SOHO- NYC headquarters. The Financial Analyst position will report into the Finance Manager - International Export and will be responsible for supporting the International Export Division by providing timely and accurate financial information. Territories include Latin America, Africa, Middle East, Europe, Caribbean, and Asia.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Variance analysis and reporting on actual results vs. forecast and prior year
- Production of internal reporting and commentary to help management run the business
- Participate in budgeting and forecasting processes
- Understand sales & profitability across key products & geographies, help to design consistent processes for tracking performance
- Liaise with other members across company to ensure quality results
- Prepare reports, accounting reconciliations and other duties related the month-end close process
- Prepare required journal entries at month-end as necessary
- Manage ad-hoc requests and special projects

Qualifications
HOW YOU CAN FIT (Qualifications)
- BA/BS in Accounting or Finance
- 3 years of experience in Finance or a related field
- Very strong PC skills and proficiency with various applications; MS Excel, Hyperion, and Data Warehouse environments
- Cross-functional teamwork experience
- Demonstrated skills in financial analysis, budgeting/forecasting
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously
- Self-motivated in achieving goals and completing routine tasks
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
