Unity Elementary School is approximately 35 minutes from Mount Sunapee Ski Resort and 30 minutes from all of the concerts and athletic events at Dartmouth College in Hanover. The Connecticut River flows nearby making kayaking and canoeing very convenient after work and on the weekends. Hiking trails are plentiful. POSITION TITLE: PreK/Kindergarten Classroom Teacher
Terms of Employment: Full-Time, School Year 25-26

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • NH Early Childhood Educator certification or proof of eligibility for NH certification AND Special Education Early Childhood
  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Classroom experience or prior work with preschool/elementary children preferred
JOB SUMMARY: To provide all students with an early childhood program that provides for their intellectual, academic, and social/emotional growth to reach their full potential.

Job Goals: We are looking for an energetic, child centered educator to join our team. Experience with Responsive Classroom and play based learning is preferred. The teacher is up to date regarding curriculum content and effectively plans instruction, assessment of student learning and monitors students’ understanding of the curriculum. The teacher establishes and encourages a positive student learning environment and provides clear communication with students. The teacher uses appropriate instructional techniques as well as continually evaluates, experiments and refines instructional strategies while managing the classroom environment. The teacher fulfills professional responsibilities including sharing responsibility for the accomplishment of school and system-level goals and policies.
  • Skilled in instructing and assessing heterogeneous preschool and kindergarten groups.
  • Proficient in differentiating and personalizing instruction for a variety of learners in a heterogeneous school setting.
  • Skilled in managing and leading several adults in order to provide specialized instruction, related services, and other IEP supports.
  • Able to identify students with disabilities in the community through ChildFind procedures.
  • Familiar with early childhood assessments.

ERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create an environment of respect and rapport that establishes a culture of learning.
  • Plan and deliver instruction based on District curriculum and student needs.
  • Establish classroom procedures and manage student behavior in a manner consistent with child development.
  • Coordinate with and support instructional teams and colleagues to enhance established practices and school climate.
  • Maintain accurate records including monitoring of student progress to inform instruction and document growth.
  • Communicate with students and families on program objectives and student growth.
  • Collaborate with district educators to enhance professional knowledge and practices.
  • Participate in ongoing reflection and professional development for growth.
  • Implement 504 and IEP accommodations and modifications to meet student needs.
  • Follow District policies and procedures and maintain accurate records.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the principal.

EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated by the principal in accordance with District evaluation procedures.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: In accordance with the Unity Education Association (UEA) contract and District policies.
