Marion Cross Elementary School is seeking a reliable, flexible, and dependable Building Substitute to join our dynamic team of educators. This is adaily, full-timeposition, where you will be providing coverage for teacher absences. As a building substitute, you will play a key role in maintaining a positive and productive learning environment for students. This position begins immediately and ends onApril 11, 2025. Open until filled.

The Marion Cross School is a Pre-K-6 school in beautiful Norwich, Vermont. We are home to the first interstate school district. We value outdoor education, critical thinking skills, positive school community, and appreciate the students and families that we serve. Our school has a dedicated PTO and strong community support.

General Purpose:Provide instructional support in the absence of the regular teacher

Reports to: Building principal

Supervises: n/a


POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Except as specifically noted, the following functions are considered essential to this position:

  • Provide instructional support in the absence of the regular teacher
  • Manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning environment
  • Follow lesson plans and adapt as necessary to meet student needs
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and administration
  • Report any issues or concerns to the appropriate school personnel
  • Assist with non-classroom duties as assigned
  • Must comply with all SAU 70 District policy and building / department rules, procedures, practices and objectives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Ability to remain calm in difficult situations.
  • Ability to successfully multitask within role.
  • Ability to accurately and expeditiously type correspondence, reports and memoranda according to standard business practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and/or written policies, procedures and instructions.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer using standard or customized software applications appropriate to the assigned tasks.
